How add-ons work
An add-on is a normal Android TV app with its own package name. It declares a card using the launcher's module-card contract; the launcher finds the card, asks you once whether to show it, and then shows it as a tile with the add-on's label, caption and glow colour. Nothing else connects the two, and the launcher is built and size-checked without the add-ons folder.
How to install a CleanYourTV add-on
You build it on your computer with the same tools as the launcher (JDK 17 and Android SDK 34), then push it to the TV over ADB. The repository's add-on guide gives these commands:

Some add-ons, such as Prayer Times, take their settings (city, calculation method) before you build, so read the add-on's own README first.
Rules every add-on follows
- One folder and its own Gradle project per add-on, never editing the launcher.
- No prebuilt APKs in the repository.
- Every permission, network access and background service listed up front.
- No telemetry without opt-in, no ads, its own artwork.
- Tested on a real TV, and maintained by its author; unmaintained add-ons may be removed.

What are CleanYourTV add-ons?
Small, optional Android TV apps kept in the official repository that show up on the CleanYourTV launcher as a module card. The launcher never depends on them, so they cannot make it bigger or change how it behaves.
Is there an APK for CleanYourTV add-ons?
No. As with the launcher, the repository contains no prebuilt APKs. You build an add-on from source and install it over ADB.
Do add-ons work without the CleanYourTV launcher?
Most of them run as ordinary Android TV apps on any home screen; with the CleanYourTV launcher they also appear as a Home card after you answer Show card.
Can I write my own add-on?
Yes. Each add-on is its own Gradle project in addons/<name>/ and only talks to the launcher through the module-card spec. It must list every permission, have no telemetry without opt-in and no ads, and be tested on a real TV.
